Fighting Weight Problems-Exercise is a Dirty Little Word

Exercise is a dirty little word

We all know that we should exercise, however when we are faced with fighting weight problems, we never look forward to an exercise coach inflicting more pain on our already painful joints and body. Exercise has become a dirty little word.

imageSince the thought of exercising has a very negative impact on most of us, a tip would be to attempt more ways to add calorie burning activity daily.

It has been my experience when my mind reminds me that I do not like exercise, I can always find excuses to get around the dirty little word-“exercise”.

What can you do to change your mindset of how you look at exercise. It is all in your viewpoint. We actually do exercise everyday…Look at what we do on a daily basis.

We MOVE.

Easy Tip/solution would be to add more “movement” on a regular daily basis.

Find an activity that you really would look forward to doing each day and enjoy. Make sure that activity includes “movement” and you’ll never need to come up with an excuse not to exercise again.

  • Take a short walk with your friends.
  • Walking at the mall while shopping.
  • Play with the kids.
  • Have fun and dance!
  • Play outside with your dog.
  • Join a sports league. (Baseball, Volleyball, Tennis or Bowling)
  • Try a new fitness class like Pilates or Zoomba.
  • Go for a bike ride.

Just make a small change and practice the Slight Edge everyday.  Be persistent and make consistent daily choices to get up and MOVE!

Trouble Losing Weight-A Little-Known Factor That Could Affect Your Calorie Burn

If you skip breakfast, a little-known factor that could affect your calorie burn for the day, have you set yourself up for a disastrous day? Trouble losing weight, think about it…you know you got plenty of rest the night before, you woke feeling refreshed and you exercise. You get to work and by mid morning your co-workers sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher…”wa wawa wawa wa”. Your eyes feel like they didn’t wake up when your body did and you just can not keep them open.

Well, if you skipped breakfast, you may have set yourself up for a very disastrous day.

I am sure that we have all heard the old saying, "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper."  Very often, we forego the breakfast routine in order to catch an early train or to cut back on daily calories. Many find it very difficult to make themselves eat breakfast first thing in the morning. But friends it is so very important to get that first meal of the day in so you can start burning calories immediately.  Breakfast is not YOUR enemy.

When we make a conscious decision to forego breakfast, this decision not only completely ignores your body’s needs, but it also robs your body of so many positive benefits. Eating later in the day can ruin your body’s opportunity of burning off unwanted and unnecessary fat. And guess where that leads…  putting yourself at risk for obesity, heart disease, and other health risks like diabetes. It really is that grave.

However, on the contrary, you can not stuff your face with high sugar cereals, breakfast pastries, sausages, ham, bacon and eggs everyday of the week. To reap the many health benefits of eating a GOOD breakfast, which include radiant skin and a better immune system, start the day off right, breakfast should be a complete meal.

How can you start the day off right when you are not a breakfast eater?

  • Making a few simple and easy changes in what you eat already.  What could be easier?
  • Shrink your body now by simply changing one or two meals a day.
  • Instead of a large, heavy, fat-filled meal, enjoy a tasty shake and an ultra delicious cookie. How does Oatmeal-Raisin sound to you? Or Chocolate Chip? Eating can be fun and healthy!

Everybody knows that a healthy lifestyle is critical and achievable  when you take ownership of your own health.

Don’t Drink Your Calories. Eat Your Calories.

Drinking your calories can defeat your weight lose goals. Chances are you have not heard this before, “Don’t drink your calories. Eat your calories.”

The average ‘super-sized-blended-syruped-whole-milk-frapp-coffee-drink’image is a hefty 500 calories.  Two 20 oz. bottles of your favorite soft drink a day is 480 calories. In just those three drinks there is a total of 940 calories, which is  3/4 of the calorie intake for a female. Now there is no leeway to eat your calories.

I know many feel that water can be boring, but these high syrup type of beverages are packed with sugar, empty calories, and these calories will be stored as fat in our bodies. Fat intake is not the only fat we put into our body, sugar also turns to fat in our body.  Why not consider making a habit of having alternative low calorie, low sugar cold or hot beverages?

Just changing one simple habit can make all the difference. How about choosing an iced tea or hot tea or coffee without heaps of sugar and cream?

Now here is a cool idea for those who are addicted to energy drinks.  Energy drinks are usually packed lots of calories and some kind of sweetener. So if you like energy drinks, why not avoid the high calorie versions? Check out Crave Energy Drink!

Only 9 Calories

Calorie counting? And, who’s not these days…..well with Crave you get only 9 calories per serving. What a way to count calories!

Incredible Energy!
Simply mix one packet into approximately 16 oz. of pure water or whatever other low calorie beverage you prefer and drink slowly. You will love the taste and in just a few minutes you will feel the most incredible energy come over you. The energy will last about 4-6 hours on average.

Less than 1 gram of sugar
Unlike the majority of Energy Drinks……Crave contains less than 1 gram of sugar. This may be one reason for the lack of the common crash associated with so many energy drinks.

Simply create a new habit to replace the old. Find a new low calorie or no calorie beverage that YOU enjoy and watch the weight fall off.

Don’t drink your calories. Eat your calories.

Weight Loss Tip-Snacks Boost Your Metabolism

Snacks … rule! Snacks boost your metabolism! The right snacks boost your metabolism.

If you don’t eat for a few hours, your body thinks: “Hey, no incoming food. I don’t want to starve. Let me go into survival mode. Turn down the metabolism. Conserve calories.”

If you are trying to lose or manage your weight, being in starvation mode is not good.  Thus the importance of eating a HEALTHY breakfast.

Breakfast is the meal that gives you a kick-start in the morning to get your metabolism in gear. That is why we eat breakfast. You want your body to burn calories all day long. And you want to help your willpower hold up so you don’t overindulge at the next meal.

If during the day you go long periods without eating, your body will go back into calorie-conserving survival mode. You want to eat to keep your metabolism burning calories for you.

Snacks will boost your metabolism!

Now hear this. How do you feel after eating a big greasy meal? Exactly, stuffed and lazy. Once your metabolism finally kicks in to burn off the big meal it is time to eat once again. Having a habit of eating this way will only leave you on an energy roller-coaster, one second your up the next your energy levels are falling.

So instead, think about spreading out your food throughout the day. You won’t need to get stuffed at each meal because your not ravenous. Plus just knowing that you will be having a snack again soon will help you not feel like you need to stockpile to hold out until the next big meal.

Go ahead and make it a habit to eat snacks regularly (healthy snacks). Sounds like fun.

Why not make it a habit to have a healthy snack or meal every three or four hours?

And don’t eat just junk food. You will want a snack that is high in nutrition to fuel that calorie-burning metabolism like an Appetizer Diet Cookie or Shake.
Just avoid the donuts, the muffins, the candy bars and other high sugar, empty calorie snacks.

It is an easy habit to snack. It’s even easier to keep an Appetizer Diet Cookie with you.

Make your snacking count in the long run so you can reach your weight loss goals faster. The right snacks boost your metabolism.

Warning: Energy Drinks The Hidden Risks

The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, in November 2010, detailed in a report the hidden risks that are associated with the consumption of energy drinks. Many energy drinks contain much more caffeine than would normally be contained in a strong brewed cup of coffee. The report also goes on to describe the hidden risks of combining caffeine with other additives…that may not always be reported correctly on labels.

Three risks are maximized if energy drinks are used in combination with alcohol. This combination has been reported to affect

RISKS:

  1. heart rates,
  2. blood pressure and even
  3. mental states.

Even energy drinks labeled as “the best energy drink” when used in combination with alcohol can increase the above risks.

Many health experts believe caffeine blocks sleepiness and hinders the feeling of drunkenness usually evidenced when drinking alcohol, which of course allows some people to continue drinking after they normally would have stopped. Both caffeine and alcohol are diuretics, so mixing energy drinks with alcohol can cause severe dehydration, possibly leading to vomiting, nausea, and other health problems in the long term.

Many people use energy drinks to give them a good kick in the pants when feeling tired.  The problem is that most consumers never experience the “jolt” for long and crash only aimage couple of hours later. The crash is usually due to the sugar content. Unlike the majority of Energy Drinks……Crave contains less than 1 gram of sugar. We feel that this is one reason for the lack of the common crash associated with so many energy drinks. Crave contains 80 mg of Caffeine per serving which is about the normal range for a cup of coffee.

Crave’s delicious taste is flavored and sweetened by Vitamark’s special Natural Flavor Blend and an incredible ingredient we call FOS. That’s short for Fructulooligisaccharides. Now you see why we call it FOS. FOS, is actually a fiber and is very beneficial in several ways. FOS assists in the absorption of calcium to strengthen bones as well as adding to taste and sweetening.

Multi-Vitamin OVEN Test-Is Your Favourite Vitamin Making You Sick

Did you know that it is not uncommon to have allergies to vitamins. Is Your Favourite Vitamin Making You Sick? These allergies can cause you to develop horrible physical reactions; which of course defeats the real purpose of taking vitamins.

Did you also know that approximately 80 percent of those using vitamins and or other supplements are causing damage to their bodies, and not providing themselves with nourishment, due to these allergic reactions.

Symptoms of Vitamin Allergies

According to an article on Tree.com, complications of vitamin allergies can include any one or combination of the following symptoms:

  • asthma
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • general fatigue
  • headaches
  • itchiness
  • runny nose
  • skin rashes
  • sneezing
  • sniffling
  • wheezing

While these symptoms characterize mild to moderate vitamin allergies, more severe allergies to vitamins can cause a person to go into anaphylactic shock, a violent reaction of an allergy that causes people to suffer from breathing difficulties, quickly lose blood pressure and possibly go into cardiac arrest.

Some of the problem may be in the ingredients of the vitamin.  SO let’s look at this issue for a minute. How can you tell if there are synthetic chemicals and may be derived from petroleum, rocks, or coal tar? (I don’t think I would want to ingest this stuff)

Wellness Tip from the Wellness Coach Luther Brotherton Pharmacist

Put your Multi-Vitamin To The OVEN Test~ Did you know that 95% of vitamins are made from synthetic chemicals and may be derived from petroleum, rocks, or coal tar? They may actually be doing you more harm than good! You can test your vitamin by baking it in the oven for 10 minutes. If your vitamin is synthetic and potentially harmful, the chemicals will begin to OOZE out. If your vitamin is truly made from a plant source it might brown evenly…just like a roasted vegetable.

WHAT IS VITA ENHANCED WATER®-Catalyst Altered Water

WHAT IS VITA ENHANCED WATER®?

Vita Enhanced Water® is Vitamark International’s proprietary "catalyst altered water" formulation. It includes purified deionized water, sodium metasilicate, castor oil, calcium chloride and magnesium sulfate. When this specialized blend is added to purified (must have the heavy metals like lead removed) or distilledimage water, a micelle is created which in turn creates the catalyst that impacts the molecular structure of the water. A micelle is a very small, high energy atomic particle that has a very powerful negative magnetic field. This creates what we call a "wetter" water by lowering the surface tension of the water molecule.

This "wetter" water is considered a surfactant agent which is capable of increasing a substances absorbability–this is why you are directed to tell your physician or health care professional that you are taking the Vita Enhanced Water® and medications at the same time. The "wetter water" creates a more efficient nutrient delivery system within the body and allows waste materials to be carried away from the cells more efficiently–creating the opportunity for better health!

Water is essential to life. Every biochemical process in the body depends on it. Vita Enhanced Water® through its molecular and alkalizing impact simply creates an "improved" water with an alkaline pH which allows the body to seek the proper pH level and electrolyte balance. This allows for improved biological function which contributes to overall better health.

Vita Enhanced Water® is our unique and proprietary "alkalizing biodelivery system". It creates "better water for a better life".

It offers some wonderful benefits:

increases hydration*

enhances nutrient delivery*

serves as an alkalizing agent*

assists with toxin elimination*

a free radical scavenger*

serves as a soothing agent for burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises, etc. for people and pets*

great for plants, cut flowers*

great in the fishbowl*

  • When ordering salads, always ask for the dressing on the side. Dipping your salad into your dressing is better than drowning your salad in heavy dressing. Better yet, when you eat your salad try, just dip your fork in the salad dressing first and then pick up the other salad ingredients on your fork.  You’ll still get a unbelievable amount of great flavor with very little dressing.
  • Look for vinegar or citrus dressings, as they are on a regular basis lower in calories.
  • Ask for whole wheat pasta or brown rice instead of white. It seems obvious that we should avoid fried rice as the oil adds a lot of calories.
  • Order the leanest cuts of meat. Saturated fat is NOT a nutrient. It would be best to only eat red meats a couple times a week, eating more poultry and fish instead.
  • Ask to have your food grilled, not fried.
  • Eat sandwiches open-faced with a knife and fork. You don’t need to eat all of the bread. Just more empty calories.
  • Ask for a to-go container when your food arrives. Wrap up half your over-sized meal to save for later. Do this before you start eating your meal.
  • Be prepared. Many restaurants offer nutritional information and options on their websites. Take a look at the menu before you leave and decide what you are going to order. Then you won’t be swayed by last minute hunger-induced decisions.
  • imageDrink water, save calories and money. Skip the soft drinks or even tea with sugar.
  • Common restaurant words to avoid: super-size, cream, butter sauce, covered with cheese, gravy and fried.
